Griffin iMic

So, I found out about this thing from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_zgd4GqdFQ and I was interested in getting the iMic he talked about, since I want to stream audio from my PS Vita to my laptop. When researching this thing, I found that there was not a lot of information on it, so I am making this page to talk about it.

As far as I know, there are 3 revisions of this. According to this review, it was first available somewhere around July 30th, 2001, when the review was published. It was created by Griffin Technology, and they go for around 30-60 US dollars (March 2024) online. It does not look like these are for sale anymore. I also have no idea if their functions are different, but I do know that the one in the plastic case looks different than the ones in the boxes. I can't really tell if there are switches on them like on the others I think, but I'll see soon enough hopefully.

I have bought one of them here and will review it when it arrives! I will also try to scan the paper insert(s) and dump the disc - although I don't have a Plextor drive for properly ripping CDs, or a scanner for that matter! But I will try to get both of those done eventually.

Update (May 11th, 2024)

The iMic arrived in the mail on the 25th of March. I haven't gotten around to writing about it (sorry), but I was able to use it! When I opened the package it stunk like gasoline, but I assume that was just from the plastic degrading. It has gone away mostly about after a month. I originally bought it to capture audio for my PS Vita, but I discovered that my console's aux jack did not work! I tested the iMic out anyway with my phone and an aux cord and it did do it's job, however, I had to use these drivers in order to use it on Windows 11: https://github.com/AaronKelley/imic-driver. I will try to make a video of me using the device.
